Biggenden MPHS is a small, rural facility providing acute, aged care, community and allied health services to the Biggenden community and surrounding area. 

A new $12.5 million hospital opened in January 2012 and includes an emergency department, aged care, acute inpatient and outpatient services, and a new Private Practice Medical Centre. It also has room for visiting allied and other health professionals.

Accommodation for Nursing and Allied Health staff is in a quiet picturesque setting, single rooms, shared bathroom, lounge and kitchen facilities. Rooms are cooled with ceiling fans and an air-conditioned single room is available for night duty staff. A carport is available for vehicles. The staff accommodation has recently been upgraded.

The township of Biggenden is located approximately 100 kilometres from Bundaberg, 84 kilometres from Maryborough and 400 kilometres from Brisbane. The population of 1,545 enjoys a sub-tropical climate. New recreational facilities at Mingo Crossing and at the Paradise Dam provide a great location for visitors and locals looking for new adventures and places to go.

Dominating the skyline around Biggenden is the majestic Mt Walsh and the 'Bluff'. This National Park area is unique because of its mountain wilderness with rugged cliffs, deep gorges and gullies filled with scrub containing few tracks. Biggenden is famous for its twin volcanic crater lakes which are located 25 kilmoetres from the township near the small settlement of Coalstoun Lakes.

A privately operated kindergarten, state preschool, state primary school and state high school to year 10 service the community. The majority of year 11 and 12 students commute daily by bus to Isis High School (47 kilometres away).
