The Gympie Hospital's Maternity and Women's Health Unit now offers an extended midwifery service to new mums in the Gympie and Cooloola Coast areas. This service is available to all women who have their babies at Gympie as well as women who live in the Gympie area.

A four-bed acute stroke unit has recently been established within the Gympie Hospital. This has enhanced a patient's access to appropriate clinical services and increased the numbers of patients who can be safely managed at the Gympie Hospital.

Improved access to diabetes services at the Gympie Hospital has been achieved through the Shared Care Community Diabetes Clinic—a specialist travels to Gympie to see patients so they no longer have to travel to Nambour or Brisbane.

Establishment of a short stay and medical assessment and planning service has improved patient flow, facilitates early physician intervention, earlier discharge and reduces unnecessary hospital admissions.

Outreach/Telemedicine services are available with Nambour General Hospital and Brisbane hospitals enhancing the care provided to antenatal, paediatrics, diabetes and mental health patients.
