An East Fremantle hospital has been sold for $17.5 million as part of the West Australian government's asset sales program to reduce debt.
Changes to Kaleeya Hospital
Maternity, gynaecology and neonatal services provided at Kaleeya Hospital will transfer to Fiona Stanley Hospital from 2 December 2014.
Expectant mothers will require an obstetrician/GP referral to either Kaleeya Hospital or Fiona Stanley Hospital if they are expecting their baby after 2 December 2014.
Kaleeya Hospital antenatal clinic staff will accept referrals for Fiona Stanley Hospital until 2 December 2014.
Fiona Stanley Hospital’s integrated maternity, neonatal and paediatric service will include:
- 35 inpatient beds
- 6 birthing rooms
- water birthing bath
- an assessment area with 4 bays, plus 2 assessment rooms that can also be used for birthing
- 8 neonatal cots, including 2 isolation rooms
- care for high-risk pregnancies and birthing emergencies, a level of care not previously available in Perth’s south.
Women with low-to-medium risk deliveries will still be able to receive maternity and neonatal services at the following hospitals in Perth’s south metropolitan area in 2015:
- Armadale Kelmscott Memorial Hospital
- Bentley Hospital
- Peel Health Campus
- Rockingham General Hospital.
More complex cases will be referred to Fiona Stanley Hospital or King Edward Memorial Hospital.
