Much of our surgery supports Queensland Fertility Group’s services, however the theatre facility also does plastic, urology, male infertility, gynaecology (including laparoscopic procedures), orthopaedics, dental and cosmetic surgery.
All surgeons and anaesthetists must apply for and be granted clinical privileges by submitting specific documentation to be able to practice at this facility. In addition there is a Medical and Research Committee which oversees their practice and performance.

The Mackay Specialist Day Hospital team is lead by Pam Barratt, Director of Nursing. Pam has almost 30 years perioperative experience including scrub/scout, anaesthetic & recovery, management and education roles.
Pam is responsible for the quality of care provided as well as the competence, attitude and performance of the nursing and administration staff. Our staff undertake annual mandatory training in life support, infection control, manual handling and fire and safety. In addition to this mandatory training they also participate in an ongoing in-service education program to ensure we continue to deliver evidence based best practice.

We employ specialist CSD, scrub/scout, anaesthetic and recovery room staff with a vast number of years experience between them. Our administration team, which includes a dedicated Clinical Coder, provide efficient and timely support.
