Monto Health Service was built in 1988 and provides services to acute and some long term care clients. A special care unit is available for those members of the community and their families when required.

Construction has commenced on the new Monto Private Practice Medical Centre that will be located on the Monto Hospital site. The project is a joint initiative between Central Queensland Rural Division of General Practice and Queensland Health and was funded by a grant under the National Rural and Remote Health Infrastructure Program (NRRHIP).
Monto is located approximately 500 kilometres north west of Brisbane and within easy range of the coastal cities of Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Gladstone.
