Whitsunday Health Service incorporates the Proserpine Hospital and the Whitsunday Community Health Centre in Cannonvale.
Proserpine Hospital offers specialists outpatients clinics, 24-hour emergency care and an acute primary care clinic for people unable to get an appointment with their general practitioner when needed.
Dental services have been expanded thanks to a partnership with the James Cook University and funding from the Australian Government. Dental chairs have increased from two to four, and the facility also has an in-house laboratory, decontamination and sterilisation rooms, dental records storage, new reception and stock room.
The mobile women's health nurse visits regularly to conduct health screenings and checks, pap smears and referral to other services if needed.
Telehealth services are available to link patients with specialists in other areas. There are more mental health and paediatric consultations taking place through Telehealth.
Older persons are supported to stay in their own home through Whitsunday Home Care which provides a home and community care service, and community aged care packages. Visits from the aged care assessment team also support older residents.
