Springwood Hospital was opened in 1976 as a community based hospital. The community remains very active in supporting and raising funds for the hospital. The facility does not have an Emergency Department.
Springwood Hospital has 32 beds, 5 of which are designated as day only surgery beds. The theatre is fully equipped and provides surgery in a number of specialities including ophthalmology, gynaecology, urology and general surgery
Specialists and GP’s provide inpatient care.
No pathology or x-rays are done on site. Blood is collected from patients and couriered to Nepean Hospital or a private pathology service.
Patients who are appropriate may be accepted from other facilities within Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, to await nursing home placement, if no Nursing Home beds are available.
