Over 100 years ago, St Vincent’s Private began with 24 beds. Since then our hospital has grown and expanded and as a result of the innovation and initiative of our clinicians and hospital management, we have since pioneered private healthcare in Australia and have become one of Australia’s leading private hospitals.  Being cared for by us means you’ll be offered the latest technologies and treatments available. For example, we established the first level 1 Intensive Care Unit and conducted the first open heart surgery in a private hospital in NSW. In 2005, we acquired the first da Vinci robot in NSW, which provides state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgery. We have since performed over 3000 cases,  the highest number of cases for any hospital in NSW.  In 2011, we became the first hospital in the southern hemisphere to become Magnet Recognised. More recently, we conducted the first live donor renal transplant in a NSW private hospital.

The notion of ‘Patient-Centred Care’ has gained an increased profile in the health care industry in recent years. However, at St Vincent’s Private, we have embedded this concept within our strategy and operations for over a century. The Sisters of Charity lived patient-centred care on a daily basis by meeting the physical, spiritual and holistic needs of their patients and today we continue this with our focus on excellence in compassionate care.

This mission continues to be our priority for us today and into the future. We are blessed to serve the community and have the community share our passion for our mission and values.
