The Tambo Primary Health Centre is a nurse-led emergency care and primary health service. There are approximately 611 people living in the Tambo service catchment area. The centre is located 102 kilometres from Blackall Hospital and 315 kilometres from Longreach Hospital by sealed road.

A regular overnight medical clinic now operates in Tambo, providing improved access to general practice care.
Tambo continues to experience high demand for services. Telehealth access is increasing with some reduction experienced in the need for patients to travel away.
Tambo provides nurse-led clinic facilities (Monday to Friday), ambulance services and 24-hours a day, seven days a week emergency on-call services.
Visiting general practitioner services are provided by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) every Tuesday and Thursday.
Visiting allied health services are provided by the both Central and North Queensland Medicare Local based in Longreach and the Central West Hospital and Health Service (HHS). Services provided by Central West HHS include occupational therapy, social work, dental and speech pathology.
Visiting specialist services include RFDS, a women’s health doctor and a cardiologist team.
