The Windorah Primary Health Centre is a nurse-led emergency care and primary health service. There are an estimated 158 people living in the Windorah service catchment area and tens of thousands of visiting tourists each year. The centre is located 313 kilometres by sealed road from Longreach Hospital.

  • The clinic continues to provide emergency response and support for primary healthcare.
  • The introduction of two Directors of Nursing in July 2015 will increase the continuity of care with a primary healthcare focus.
  • Windorah provides nurse-led clinic facilities (Monday to Friday), ambulance services and 24-hours a day, seven days a week emergency on-call services.
  • Visiting general practitioner services are provided by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) fortnightly on Tuesdays.
  • Visiting allied health services are provided by the North and West Remote Health based in Longreach and the Central West Hospital and Health Service (HHS). North and West Remote Health services provided include physiotherapy, podiatry, a dietician, occupational therapy and a diabetic educator. Services provided by Central West HHS include occupational therapy, social work, dental and speech pathology.
  • Visiting community health services include chronic disease, women’s health, mental health, child health, Indigenous health, RFDS, wellbeing, and alcohol tobacco and other drugs.
